Dear students and parents,
The spring arrived last week and students enjoyed the sunshine and being outside on their breaks.
Mr. Wither was quick to make the best of the good weather holding lacrosse games outside for PE. The sunshine disappeared as quickly as it came but we know the lighter mornings are here to stay.
Now that we are well in to the spring term approaching SPTs and the Easter break I would just like to update you all on some of the events and activities which have taken place this term:
First of all, I would like to thank the PTA for running the well attended annual ski trip to Romme followed by their all night LAN party at the school in February. I would like to extend a warm hearted thank you to all parents, students and staff that made the LAN event into such a wonderful success. I was amazed at how well the LAN crew and students organized their stations at the event as it was the first time for me seeing the LAN phenomenon in action.
In junior school we have had a Friendship poster competition and prizes were given out last week to 3 winners in each year group. It was a very difficult decision for the judges and as there were so many wonderful posters we have decided to display as many posters as we can around the school. The whole of year 4 have been to Globen this week to take part in SchackFyran and by all accounts had a great time! Please check the news section for information on this event shortly.
In senior school we have taken part in the Kangaroo Maths competition, Modern language competition and year 9 students have been to the Opera. Year 8 students are getting ready for PRAO next week, which is when they get an opportunity to experience a working environment for a week. We have had a great response to our IGCSE launch with over 70 entries and the new subjects available have been very popular, especially English First Language. These exams start in April with results in August 2012.
Our first Year Book is nearing completion, editing of pictures and articles are well under way and the book can be ordered for delivery in June. Thank you Year Book team for an incredible job.
Our student council in senior have had a special training course recently and both junior and senior student councils play a very important role in developing our school as well as organising events. Junior school council have a crazy hat and hair day coming up on Friday and senior school are planning a disco.
We have held our annual celebration of Saint Patrick's Day, a much loved event by all which is run magnificently by our English departments in senior and junior. The school literally turned green for the day.
Finally, our traffic safety has been and will remain to be our focus, in particular the no-stopping zone outside the junior school building and the promotion of Täby Kommun's drop off zone at Grindtorp. The safest way for all to come to school, so please use it and come safely to school.
Thank you students, parents and staff for all you do for the school. We look forward to meeting parents shortly at SPTs.
Best Regards
Ms.Gina Ericsson
