Dear Parents and Students,
We have had a wonderful start to the term and as the leaves turn golden we are looking forward to welcoming you into school next week for the Student, Parent Teacher talks (SPTs). This is one of the most important times of year for us, as we believe the feedback we provide is key in enabling our students to understand their learning. Students, you have been working very hard and have already achieved some excellent results and you are really showing a positive approach to your learning at school in all you do. Well done to year 4 students, your positive and enthusiastic start at our school has been amazing.
Parents, please discuss the feedback our teachers have provided in the rubrics in school soft with your children: The key questions are: What have I achieved so far and what do I need to improve on in my subjects? How do I go about achieving this and which areas do I need to practice to become an expert learner?
Our focus this school year is a refocus on our Approaches to learning (ATLs). Being Punctual, Positive, Prepared, Active, Cooperative and Respectful are key tools in successful learning: Do I need to change the approach to my learning to achieve my goals in all subjects?
We have had a busy first half term, including extra activities such as the year 6 Aesthetics day, Year 9 canoeing day, Swedish author visits, European Language week, Sports Days and Orienteering.
We have one more week until the autumn break and during this week we have several fun activities in school including our annual dress up day for Halloween. We love to work hard, but play hard too at IEST.
I would like to take this opportunity to inform you about up and coming events at our school:
- Open House for new year 4 students on 19th November (By invitation only)
- Cambridge University training days for teachers hosted at our school on 28th and 29th November
- PRAO for year 8 and year 9
- Lucia celebration 9th December (More details to come)
- Year 7 Movie Night on 24th November
- The Junior school “ Winter White” disco is planned for December 2nd
I am looking forward to welcoming you in to school next week and would like to thank our professional and creative staff and teachers for all they do to make IEST such an outstanding school.
I believe it is important in my role as Principal to actively listen, learn and lead our school and I am delighted to have such an experienced leadership team behind me to support with the operational aspects of running our school, so we also have time to focus on our strategic planning and focus on the quality of education and life- long learning at our school.
I would like to end by wishing you all a lovely autumn break and I welcome everyone back on November 7th.
Ms. Gina Ericsson
